8th Grade
Math:
This year’s math course is focused on strengthening skills and concepts in Algebra I that will prepare you for high school math. Algebra I is a challenging course that involves reasoning and calculations with symbols. Throughout the study of the course, you will develop algebraic thinking and problem solving skills. Topics that will be taught include variables and their applications, rational numbers, solving equations, solving inequalities, functions, graphing linear equations, exponents, and polynomials. The class will use Khan Academy, Google Classroom and other math websites. Please expect to have homework assigned daily.
Science:
Eighth grade science focuses on the study of Physical Science. You will study a variety of topics including motion, forces, energy, sound, light, matter, elements, reactions, and atomic bonding. The course will include reading, writing, discussion, lab experiments, and projects. Labs and demonstrations are a key part of your learning in science class. We will utilize PearsonRealize.com and many other websites to enhance the class material. Students will also participate in the school science fair and their project will count towards their science grade.
